Hi everyone,
I know it’s been a while since my last update. School has been crazy, and I actually have to do an update soon related to that, but it’s the last week of classes and there is still a really terrifying amount of work to do.
For one thing I am an Honours student now, and I present a thesis proposal in a little over a week, but the last-minute changes that my supervisors are asking to make are SO stressful because of the amount of other work that I have to do, in addition to preparing my powerpoint presentation for my proposal which has to be changed with each new update.
I’m still at a loss as to whether it’s worth all of the work and stress. But on a positive note, I am doing a second Honours now in a discipline that I love a LOT more than this one. It’s an Honours equivalence so no thesis is required, but apparently it’ll be recorded on my transcript as Honours. So I’ll have that, too.
In terms of my shop, I’ve listed a LOT and have found a spot in my new apartment perfect (at certain times of day) for photographing my items. Yay for that.
Also I was featured in a tutorial the other day, here is the URL though it will expire soon:

It's been a while eh?
So here I am, taking a much-needed break from my thesis work (some big updates to post regarding that actually). I figured I’d mention some new additions and whatnot with regards to my Etsy shop.
So here I go…
- I’ve listed a number of new items, and I’m excited about that. I’m too tired to mention them with more specificity than that, so if you’re at all intrigued please check out my shop. :)
- I’ve begun listing some of my excess supplies for sale. Unfortunately and due to my move (more on that later), many of them are still packed so there’s some delay happening in terms of getting all that I want photographed & posted.
- I’ve begun making custom shop graphics for people. This section is still under heavy construction and I’ve got lots more to add, though.
- I STARTED A SALE SECTION and reduced a number of my prices. I’m still in the process of adding more items to this section and ultimately it will probably amount to about half of my current stock. I just want to encourage sales!
Anyway that’s it for now as I have lots of work to finish this evening. I’ll update again soon! Maybe I’ll even have some pictures of my workstation at my new apartment, hurm… :3

Apartment woes.
So I'm in my apartment presently and have been here since last Wednesday. My classes begin tomorrow and if I wasn't apprehensive enough (I took a year off), I moved into an apartment above a bar and have had a hell of a time dealing with the noise and incessant partying of teens who frequent the place. My window is right above the bar's entrance, though it's on the third floor, and I'm still able to hear the screaming, cursing, and general socializing that goes on there. The outside of the place features a patio and a lot of people accumulate there as well as in the alleyway between my apartment and a newly-constructed building immediately next door.
I can hear the baseline to the music now, and it continues until 2AM each night with more teens lingering after the place closes & socializing very loudly. They've also taken to partying on the roof over my living room and outside my bathroom and bedroom window. They access it via the fire escape. It's also important to mention that I have no curtains and the windows are too high for me to put any up, so when this happens I have to pee in the dark and sleep in my living room. Never again will I live over a bar, and it's my own fault for not knowing that this place was one (it wasn't when my sister graduated, though).
I know I'm going to have to move and that makes the commencement of the semester that much more difficult. Part of me wants to move back home. Actually, a big part of me wants that as I am a homebody and I miss my family quite a lot.
On a more positive note, I found some works of Nietzsche for sale at the university bookstore & at a really reasonable price. A copy of each will be mine as of tomorrow. I'm also thrilled to have a new Nietzsche fridge magnet/finger puppet as well as a Hegel one. Is anyone else a fan of the Unemployed Philosophers Guild?
My father returns from Puerto Rico tomorrow morning too so I can finally consult him about my apartment problems tomorrow outside of email. Yay for that.
In terms of new listings, I've added a number of new items to my shop. Below is a taste of what's new:

Note: I'm having trouble getting things to align properly for this entry, even when I try to edit the HTML itself. Sorry! D:

A shop milestone: first 100 hearts.
I'm happy to say that I've reached my first 100 shop hearts on Etsy. This goal was reached yesterday and I have been listing items for a month. Also I've reached 855 item views according to Craft Cult, which is pretty exciting. 1000 isn't that far off.
Now if only I could make a sale...
I've decided to add a few more listings today, so I'm in the midst of preparing those while I write this entry. I'll perhaps edit this post when I'm done & showcase some of my newest shop additions with listing URL's.

Promoting my sister's new shop:
http://happycrows.etsy.com
Okay, so for my newest post I've decided that I'd like to start promoting other Etsians. To start, I've decided to feature my older sister's shop. She sells jewelry locally at the Saint John City Market and is very talented. Her favorite type of jewelry is chain maille, and she sells earrings, bracelets, necklaces, keychains and ankle bracelets made this way.
Her pins are amongst the most popular of her items. Though virtually all of her jewelry is upcycled from older pieces, the pins are made from recylced metals. She cuts, hammers, and solders each piece before aging them with chemicals. Each design is unique and a lot of work goes into every pin. She also does earrings like this, and I believe a couple of pairs are listed on her Etsy account. They're really unique and beautiful!
If you like one of a kind jewelry, and are a fan of upcycled and recycled items, please check out her shop. If you can't make a purchase, views and hearts would also be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for reading! I am going to be on the lookout for new Etsy shops to feature as time goes on, and I'll be posting my favorite Etsy fans as regularly as is possible for me when the semester starts up, so if you have an Etsy shop please follow my blog! You can also find me on twitter - http://twitter.com/boinne.

Back from Newfoundland!
I'm finally back from Saint John's, Newfoundland! I had a really nice time there and was able to browse a number of local antique shops. My mother and I share this interest and we both had fun. While there we were able to visit Signal Hill (for the third time), Cape Spear and Quidi Vidi. I have a number of pictures to share, as well as some possible future prints to offer.
Upon arriving at home one of our neighbors brought us a box of frozen Mackerel. He fishes regularly.
In terms of my Etsy shop, my current 20% off sale still applies. My hope is that this will help to encourage my first sales. Meanwhile I'm trying to branch out and find new ways to promote, so if you're at all interested in my shop I'd appreciate if you followed this blog. I'll return the favor.
